Mixte, Latin for “mixed,” aptly encapsulates the essence of this alternative musical project. The band’s sonic palette is a rich tapestry of contrasts: heavy yet atmospheric, fast-paced yet contemplative, complex yet laconic. At its core, Mixte fuses the raw energy of rock and metal with a kaleidoscope of musical influences, creating a sound that defies easy categorization. This audacious blend serves as a canvas for exploring profound existential themes, resulting in a unique audio-visual symbiosis.
Founded in Emsdetten, Germany, in July 2017 by Anton Ra and Phil Jobmann, Mixte has evolved into a dynamic force in the experimental music scene. Mixte’s journey has been marked by transformation and resilience. After numerous lineup changes, Anton Ra assumed the roles of vocalist and lyricist, steering the project’s creative direction. The release of their first song, “Massive,” in May 2019 marked a significant milestone. Elizaveta Ratushnyak, Anton’s sister, joined as the band’s graphic designer, further enhancing their visual aesthetic.
The quest for a stable lineup culminated in January 2022 with the addition of drummer Luc and the return of Philip on bass. This iteration, based in Rheine, Germany, saw the band enter a new phase of creative synergy. In August 2023, Jens Milo replaced Luc behind the drum kit, injecting fresh energy into the trio.
Today, Mixte stands as a testament to artistic perseverance and innovation. The band actively rehearses, bringing to life Anton Ra’s accumulated creative visions. Their music continues to push boundaries, blending diverse elements into a cohesive and captivating whole that challenges listeners to explore the depths of sound and meaning.
